Introduction

The proposed project aims to digitize historical newspapers from the Civil War era (1967–1970) and, if feasible, some publications from 1966 that provide context on the socio-political climate leading to the war. The scanning initiative will take place at two key locations: the Kenneth Dike Library, University of Ibadan, and the Nigerian Archives in Ibadan.

Scope of Work

• Scanning Locations:
  • Kenneth Dike Library, University of Ibadan
  • Nigerian Archives, Ibadan
• Newspapers to be Scanned:
  • Daily Times
  • Morning Post
• Timeframe:
  • The scanning process is scheduled to run for one month, however, we need to be prepared for the possibility of an extension depending on unforeseen circumstances.
• Document Storage Format:
  • Files will be uploaded using the following naming convention: [Newspaper Name][Date][Year]

Team Structure and Responsibilities

• Project Coordinator: Lekan – Responsible for overseeing operations, ensuring logistics, and managing student scanners.
• Scanning Team: Four students from the University of Ibadan will be recruited to conduct daily scanning activities.
  • Two students will be stationed at the Kenneth Dike Library.
  • Two students will be stationed at the Nigerian Archives.

Work Schedule

• Scanning will take place every day of the week.
• Each student is expected to scan a designated number of pages per day to ensure the timely completion of the project.
